The Rigging and Hauling Job of the Year Competitions at the Annual Conference showcased how member companies dauntlessly met extreme professional challenges. Winners announced in 2006 were:
• RIGGING OVER $750,000: Barnhart, for lifting NASA's Shuttle Launch Pads to aid work being done for corrosion control and steel reinforcement
• RIGGING BETWEEN $150,000 AND $750,000: Barnhart, for the replacement of two feedwater heaters in a coal fired power plant in Sioux City, Iowa
• RIGGING UNDER $150,000: PSC Crane & Rigging, for an 8 Mega Watt Wartsila Generator installation in a Rensselaer, Ind. power plant
• MOVING: Fagioli SPA, for the 92-km. transport of the E. Toti Submarine from Cremona River Port to the Museum of Science and Technology in Milano
• HAULING OVER 160,000 POUNDS (NET): Emmert International, for the 2,900-mile transport of two exchange vessels from the Gulf Coast to Edmonton, Canada
• HAULING UNDER 160,000 POUNDS (NET): Emmert International, for transporting 66 Gas Pipe Modules from Tyler, Texas to Benton Harbor, MI.
SC&RA presented the GOLDEN ACHIEVEMENT AWARD to Dan Bumby, E.C.C.-Lift Systems, and the DRIVER OF THE YEAR AWARD to Howard Ronken, Midwest Specialized Transportation. The PRESIDENT'S AWARDS for member recruitment were presented to Kevin Cunningham, NBIS; Jeff McGeary, Allied Insurance Brokers; and Trevor Pease, KHL Group.
The association also presented 12 awards for crane & rigging safety, 14 awards for transportation safety, 12 awards to individuals for over 1 million miles of accident-free driving, 26 awards in recognition and appreciation of loyal membership, and several Pinnacle Awards for member service on association and foundation committees and boards.
