Bishop Lifting acquires American Rigger’s Supply

Bishop Lifting, owned by Altamont Capital Partners, has completed the acquisition of American Rigger’s Supply, Inc. (American Rigger’s), a leading sling fabrication and rigging supply company headquartered in Kansas City, Kansas, USA. Founded more than 50 years ago by Chris Hughes, American Rigger’s Supply has been family-owned and operated since its inception.

Kansas City-based American Rigger’s Supply has been acquired by Bishop Lifting.

Today, it is owned by Chris’s daughter, Jennifer Hughes, and serves a wide range of industries through its fabrication capabilities and service offerings. American Rigger’s designs and manufactures custom lifting solutions made from wire rope, chain, webbing, wire mesh, and continuous fiber. In addition, the company provides training in rigging and fall protection, equipment inspections, proof testing, and repair of lifting devices.

This acquisition marks Bishop’s 15th acquisition since 2012 and the eighth add-on since Altamont’s investment. The Kansas City location adds a strategically important branch to Bishop’s network, strengthening its presence in the Midwest and enhancing its ability to serve customers locally with a broad suite of lifting products and services.

Following the transaction, Jennifer Hughes and founding employee Jim Leach will assist with the transition. Neal Edwards will be branch manager, leading day-to-day operations.

Founded in 1984, Bishop Lifting is the largest provider of wire rope, slings, rigging, fall protection and related safety-critical products in North America, the company said. It has more than 45 branches across the United States and Canada.
