First

The team from Sarens designed a lifting method to install the 524 tonne, 64 m high and 45.72 m wide Olympic Arch of the Winter Games in Italy. The arch, fixed by two hinges to its foundation, was rotated to 85 degrees using a 500 tonne and a 600 tonne capacity crawler crane. Four 185 tonne ground-mounted strand jacks rotated the arch to 100 degrees, where the cranes assisted installation of the arch at its final angle of 114 degrees, fixed to four steel cables.

Second

The Mammoet team set a new world record with the lifting and installation of two reactors each weighing 2,100 tonnes. The lifts were made using a Mammoet Sliding Gantry (MSG) crane at a refinery in Qatar. The MSG was equipped with 75.5 m of boom and a jib of 15.4 m. The reactors were installed at a radius of 34 m.

Third

The team from Mediaco (Ile de France) designed a method to lift in place the land-side bridge deck of the Bercy-Tolbiac bridge in Paris, measuring 38 x 12 m and weighing 110 tonnes. They used an 800, a 250 and two 160 tonne telescopic cranes. The method allowed installation of the bridge deck in one night without the use of intermediate supports.
