Video cameras on cranes can play a key role in ensuring operator safety and preventing on-site damage, saving both money and time.

French specialist supplier of safety solutions for jobsites AMCS Technologies has a new video camera, the Cam 61. It is aimed at construction and industrial applications.

“We have made this development a strategic asset in this worldwide context of a components shortage, making sure to have sufficient stocks to meet our customers’ demands,” explained Mohamed Chettibi, AMCS Technologies CEO. “We wanted to develop a sustainable solution and control production at all stages and also open new market opportunities.”

Cam 61 offers increased safety and greater productivity by allowing work to proceed significantly faster and with greater precision, while reducing stress on operators, the company said.

Picking up the details

Operators can see fine details of their working area thanks to the camera’s 36 times optical, and 16 times digital, zoom block. A super sensitive sensor and day or night vision make it ideal for use in low light, the company said.

The new system offers a fully configurable and triggered recording of data for seven days, or longer to a network location and-or SD memory card. A remote live view is also available from the camera. Image parameters (brightness, contrast, saturation, focus, day-night, including thresholds) can be controlled. Zoom pre-sets and custom zoom trajectories are also available.

Other features include the ability to manage more than 30 wireless cameras on the same site, a long life battery, increased screen clarity and brightness, plus higher shock and vibration resistance.

At the time of writing in late September the camera was being tested on cranes at several jobsites with a view to making it available to buy in November 2022.
