Rókin Sp/f in the Faroe Islands has taken delivery of a new 300 tonne capacity Grove GMK6300L-1 all terrain crane.
It is the new largest mobile crane on the islands, its manufacturer said. Harbour works and other infrastructure projects are in store for this new six axle crane with 80 metre boom.
The crane was acquired by construction contractor Rókin from Manitowoc dealer in Denmark, UN Mobilkraner A/S, which will also provide service backup and other support. Rókin specializes in harbour construction, drilling, piling, woodworking, storage, and related infrastructure jobs.
Crane first
It is the company’s first crane, other than loader cranes, and it was put straight to work in a local harbour.
Prior to delivery Trúgvi and Búgvi Kjell from Rókin travelled to Grove’s factory in Wilhelmshaven, Germany, for training. Holger Haber, sales manager for Scandinavia, commented, “We are proud to support Rókin with this high‑performance crane and are confident that the GMK6300L‑1 will be a valuable asset for future projects. With UN Mobilkraner A/S providing comprehensive support, Rókin has a strong service partner to ensure maximum uptime and operational safety.”
