International Tower Cranes conference confirmed for 2027

Portugal will be the host country for the 2027 iteration of the long-established International Tower Cranes (ITC) conference and networking event.

ITC is organised by International Cranes and Specialized Transport, American Cranes & Transport, www.craneandtransportbriefing.com and their publisher KHL Group. Exclusive event partner is the Specialized Carriers and Rigging Association. ITC really brings the industry together in a unique and valuable way.

The 2027 event – marking the tenth time ITC has been held – will be in the Historical Customs Building, in the city of Porto, on 7 and 8 June. Situated on the Douro River in the north of Portugal, it is the country’s second largest city and its port wine is world famous.

The award-winning Congress Centre venue for this upcoming ITC is housed in one of the city’s typical ancient thick-walled stone buildings built many hundreds of years ago. It was fully restored and repurposed in the 1990s and includes a museum of transport and communications which might also be interesting for a visit.

What gives

The afternoon of the first day of ITC usually features an excursion of some kind, typically an organised visit to local attractions, a boat trip, tower crane site visit or a combination of these. Porto presents many opportunities, several of which are already under consideration but further suggestions are welcome.

The last ITC was in Rome, Italy, in June 2025. It kicked off with a bus tour of the city, followed by an evening reception and a VIP dinner.

Topics covered in the following one-day conference sessions included the safety of equipment, operations and the wider jobsite, emerging technology, developing trends, legislation, construction market forecasts, business and engineering challenges, major project reports, and more.

These are a mix of individual speakers and round-table discussions, interspersed with multiple breaks and opportunities for networking with hundreds of peers sharing a common interest. Suggestions for speakers and topics are welcome and should be sent to [email protected]

Save the date

So, save the dates of 7 and 8 June 2027 to be in Porto. As these dates are Monday and Tuesday, why not arrive a couple of days earlier, perhaps with a partner, and make a long weekend of it.
