Liebherr developing new duty cycle crane

A new duty cycle crawler crane is under development by Liebherr-Werk Nenzing in Austria. The new 50-tonne capacity HS 835 HD will replace the HS 833 HD, the smallest model in the existing range of six duty cycle crawler cranes.

The new model is more than an upgrade, Liebherr said, as the machine is a new design, “with a completely new steel structure.” In addition, lifting capacity has been increased from 35 tonnes on the HS 833 HD to 50 tonnes on the new HS 835 HD. Engine power is 270 kW, and the maximum boom on the new crane is 75 feet with a maximum of approximately 160 feet.

As a result of these developments, overall performance of the HS 835 HD on duty cycle work will be 25 to 30% higher on average than the existing HS 833 HD, Liebherr claimed. The HS 835 HD is designed as a universal duty cycle crawler crane for all applications in material handling with dragline or grab, demolition and recycling, and for foundation works. It is available with a light boom for crane applications and a heavy boom for duty cycle applications. Liebherr plans to have the HS 835 HD in iron at April's Intermat exhibition in Paris.
