Mammoet takes Groves
25 April 2011
Global heavy lifting and transport specialist Mammoet recently purchased two new Grove mobile cranes for its regional UK subsidiary. They are the GCK3045 compact crane and the six-axle GMK6300L all-terrain crane.
The 45 ton capacity GCK3045 is a compact single-cab, boom-down crane. It is designed for manoeuverability, working on urban job sites and industrial facilities with limited work space.
The 300 ton capacity GMK6300L is a six-axle all terrain with 80 metre boom - the longest in the six-axle category, manufacturer Manitowoc said.
Darren Adams, managing director of Mammoet UK, said the company was happy to add more Grove mobile cranes to its fleet. "We are delighted to bring the first of these cranes to the UK," he said. "As we expand, we must ensure we have the best tools for the job. These two cranes extend the versatility of our range and enable us to meet almost any lifting requirement, big or small."
The two latest additions are part of a major expansion at Mammoet's UK operations, according to Manitowoc. Both cranes will be available across the country.
The GCK3045 has a 34 m boom with a "boom down" design, so the boom is stored at a negative angle for travel, optimising the transport height of the vehicle and allowing it to drive into very confined spaces. The crane also has variable outrigger positioning, a first among city cranes in Europe, allowing it more flexibility to set up in restricted spaces.
