MC Industrial to install stacker reclaimer

MC Industrial, Inc., an independent McCarthy company and self-perform industrial contractor, has been awarded a contract with Germany-based global manufacturer of bulk material handling systems, Förderanlagen Magdeburg (FAM), for a new equipment installation project at ArcelorMittal’s steel mill facility in Burns Harbor, IN.

FAM has supplied ArcelorMittal a new stacker reclaimer to be erected at its Burns Harbor Terminal. FAM selected MC Industrial to self-perform the approximately 1,700-ton equipment installation after reviewing the firm’s extensive work history at the steel producer’s Burns Harbor site and the technical expertise in Stacker Reclaimer projects.

“We have formed a valuable business partnership with FAM, not only on this specific ArcelorMittal project, but also with the potential of growing a longstanding partnership to serve other heavy industrial clients on FAM Stacker Reclaimer equipment installations,” said Phil Radin, project director, MC Industrial.

The project team mobilized on September 15, 2015 to begin performing the structural and mechanical site erection. The project scope consists of the design, fabrication, delivery, site erection and commissioning with the full equipment installation and testing completed in spring, 2016.
