Mike Posener 1958 to 2025
23 June 2025

With great regret we report the death of Michael Posener, a long-time crane, construction and publishing industry veteran. Mike died on 19 June, at 67, after a period of serious illness.
Germany figured strongly in Mike’s life. His parents emigrated from there before the second World War, reaching the UK just in time as things were getting difficult for many. Mike was born in Westminster, London, in 1958 and grew up in the south of England.
Qualified as a carpenter and joiner Mike later ran his own construction company in Germany where he also worked with cranes, at that time as an end user of the equipment he was later to be involved with from a different angle.
Most recently Mike worked as marketing and new business director at Stafford Crane Group, based in Ireland, a country he’d lived in for years.
Before that he spent 24 years in business to business publishing. For almost 20 years, until April 2024, he was at KHL Group, managing sales and advertising, initially on Access International, and then on International Cranes and Specialized Transport magazines.
Before that he held similar positions at Vertikal Press, publisher of Cranes and Access, and also at Wilmington Publishing, on Cranes Today magazine. At that time he lived on the south coast of England.
Mike had a great passion for the world of cranes, the people, the equipment and all other facets of the business.
Even in the face of a most incredible series of health challenges causing extreme ups and downs for him over several years, he showed immense determination and relentless perseverance. He was also known for his no-nonsense approach and will be missed by many around the world.
We offer our condolences to Mike’s partner Silvia, son Liam, his other family and friends.
