Morrow Equipment selected five Liebherr 542 HC-L 18/36 tower cranes for work on the Resorts World Las Vegas project on the north end of the Las Vegas Strip. Expected to open in 2021, the multi-billion dollar resort and casino will have two towers, about 3,500 rooms and suites, and 350,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space.

With a cost of $4.3 billion, the Resorts World project will be Vegas’s most expensive project of its type to date.

Because of their robust capacities and fast line speeds, Morrow, their Las Vegas-based customer W.A. Richardson Builders, specifically chose these Liebherr tower cranes for work on this massive landmark. All five cranes reached a hook height of 686 feet.

The 542HC-L cranes are being used for all construction activities, such as setting steel, and placing concrete and forms. Luffing jib cranes such as the 542 HC-L 18/36 are designed for working on tall buildings or in particularly small spaces. HC-L cranes allow level luffing. When moving the load, the controller automatically adjusts the hoist gear so that the load hook is moved horizontally.

75 percent of Morrow’s fleet is comprised of Liebherr tower cranes.

“Morrow continues to be the leader in the industry, maintaining a young fleet of Liebherr tower cranes,” said Peter Juhren, vice president of operations, Morrow Equipment. “Our strong relationship with Liebherr coupled with our expertise in the tower crane industry ensures a seamless experience for our customers. We continue to work out complex projects for our customers, working several high profile jobs currently, including the Vogtle Electric Generating Plant nuclear reactor project in Georgia, and the new Microsoft Campus in Washington state.”
