A new 250 tonne capacity Tadano AC 5.250-1 all terrain crane on a five axle carrier has joined the Nordic Crane rental fleet in Sweden.

Nordic Crane Kynningsrud has a fleet of around 300 wheeled mobile and crawler cranes based in Norway and Sweden.

Commenting on his latest fleet addition Victor Callbo, Nordic Crane regional manager, said, “The 70 metre-long main boom and the compact design make the Tadano AC 5.250-1 an incredibly versatile crane.”

A combination of lattice extensions and double folding swing away jib adds up to 45 metres of reach to the 70 metre main boom.

What type of work will it do?
Projects planned for the new crane include erection of construction tower cranes, steel structure assembly and installation of prefabricated modules. The new crane was ordered with an offsettable swing away jib for extra reach specifically for these types of project.

“Our new Tadano has already completed its first couple of jobs with aplomb: We used it to install steel elements of up to 30 tonnes for a bridge and to erect a construction crane with a maximum hook height of 66 metres, and it didn’t falter at any point in either case,” Callbo said.

“Ultimately, what really won us over was the full Tadano package: The combination of outstanding machines and excellent after-sales service made it easy for us to decide on the AC 5.250-1,” Callbo concluded.

Power for the one-engined AC 5.250-1 in Europe is from an EU Stage V Scania DC13 diesel producing 405 kW. It drives via a ZF TraXon automated manual gearbox with 12 forward and two reverse speeds.
