China-based manufacturer Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science and Technology unveiled what it said is the world’s tallest and largest wind-power construction tower crane, in Changde, Hunan province, China, earlier this year.
The LW3600-240NB reaches a maximum lifting height of 241 metres and offers a lifting capacity of 240 tonnes.
Despite its scale, the crane requires a footprint of just 35 by 55 metres, making it viable on constrained sites, Zoomlion said.
Zoomlion designed the machine to serve the growing demand for larger single-unit wind turbine installations, but says it is also capable across a range of other applications including bridges, civil construction, nuclear power, thermal power, and chemical plants.
