Potain launches PowerBoost power packs for cranes

Potain has introduced its new PowerBoost battery pack, intended to deliver additional power capacity for tower cranes.

Launched initially with the Potain M 24-19, the PowerBoost pack is a plug-and-play solution which can act as a standalone power source or work as part of an on-site power supply.

“This also eradicates the need to transport fuel to the jobsite and can help reduce overall project costs. It’s an ideal product for a range of applications, including sensitive renovation projects or other sites with restrictions on sound or air quality. It also means customers can continue to use the crane even if there’s an issue with the local grid supply.”

PowerBoost can deliver up to two working days of power. It has 16 kWh absorbed glass mat (AGM) batteries with an input rating of 230 V and a current range of 10 A to 16 A. Output is 230 V and up to 32 A. Fast charging is possible; 50 to 85% capacity takes two houts and 15 minutes when using a 16 A power supply.

Used as a standalone power source, PowerBoost can support 50 load cycles over an eight-hour day. Alternatively, it can be used for setups or teardowns, including commissioning the crane.

If PowerBoost is used in conjunction with an onsite power supply, the battery pack will be regularly recharge. Further, the cranes will use less grid power to reduce costs.
