International heavy lift and transport specialist Mammoet has tested one of its three new PTC DS super heavy lift cranes with a load of 3,520 tonnes at 33 metre radius.

For the test the crane was rigged with 83 m main boom and 36 m jib. The maximum design load on the jib is 2,900 tonnes, which sets a world record among cranes with jibs and sheerlegs, Mammoet said.

It is one of three new super heavy lift PTC DS cranes designed in-house. The 140,000 and 200,000 tonne-metre rated giants are being built, using 12,000 tonnes of steel, and tested at Mammoet's terminal in Westdorpe, the Netherlands.

The first of the three heavy lifting giants is scheduled to be shipped to Brazil, along with the jib, for its first job.
