William Eugene Richards has been named Truck Driver of the Year by the Specialized Carriers & Rigging Association (SC&RA). Richards has been a driver with ATS Specialized, a division of Anderson Trucking Service, St. Cloud, MN, since July 1992. Before joining ATS Specialized, he attended the Commercial Driver Institute, completed the National Safety Council's Defensive Driver Course II and drove for another large carrier.

Richards is a class 1A driver who hauls any size or weight and has often made presentations on truck driving to elementary school students. Richards has never had an accident during his truck-driving career. In 2002 he earned SC&RA's Million Miler Award for Safety Excellence.

“Bill has an absolute can-do attitude when it comes to his job,” said ATS fleet manager, Tom Roholt. “As long as safety is not compromised, he does whatever it takes to get the job done.”
