Smarter cables

30 April 2008

Copper and optical fiber cable manufacturer Nexans, has launched its Rheycord PUR cable for energy chains and spring-operated reels. The company claims its cables are thinner and lighter than competing designs, and that they offer high tensile strength, flexibility, wear-resistance and increased torsional stability. Nexans is responding to demand for increased communication capabilities of handling systems by developing smarter crane cables, including hybrid power and databus cables based on copper or optical fiber.
