Steve Elliott retires, Liebherr GB reorganises
21 May 2025

Liebherr Great Britain sales manager Steve Elliott retired in May after 24 years at the company.
He joined Liebherr Great Britain in May 2001 as a service administrator and technical support for mobile cranes. After three years Elliott transferred to tower cranes as that department’s sales and service support. In 2006 he returned to mobile cranes in a technical sales support role for sales managers.
Three years later he started as mobile cranes sales manager, initially taking on some of predecessor John MacGregor’s customers. Following MacGregor’s retirement in 2010 Elliott took on all customers in England and Wales.
During his 16 years in sales Elliott sold more than 700 cranes worth upwards of UK£ 460 million (US$ 617 million).
Commenting on his retirement Elliott said, “Since joining the company in 2001, I have not looked back. Not bad when you consider following my appointment, I told my wife, “I’ll just take the job as a stop gap… not sure I will stay there long.
“Liebherr is a fantastic company to work for, I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to build my career upon the same core values held dear to the Group. My last 16 years as sales manager have been the best time of my working life, I have met many great people whom I class as friends rather than customers and colleagues. I will most definitely miss the industry and my customers and colleagues, both in the UK and at Liebherr-Werk Ehingen (LWE), Germany.”
Territorial changes

After Steve’s retirement changes will be made to the UK sales areas, with effect from 2 June. For Liebherr-Werk Ehingen (LWE) products Lyle Sibbald, sales manager, adds Northwest England and Northwest Wales to his Scottish territory. Paul Goodall, sales manager in the south, will cover from North Yorkshire down to Devon and Cornwall.

The LWE product range includes wheeled mobile telescopic cranes, MK mobile folding construction cranes, crawler cranes above 500 tonnes capacity and telescopic boom crawler cranes.

Alex Burt, sales manager, will now be responsible for all Liebherr-Werk Nenzing (LWN) products, including lattice boom crawler cranes under 500 tonnes and ground engineering equipment, in the United Kingdom.
In wishing Elliott the best for his retirement Liebherr Great Britain said he was “an integral part of the business, contributing to the company’s growth and the Liebherr brand, [and] he will be missed by his peers.”
