Tadano adds 35 ton crawler to GTC series

A 35 US ton capacity telescopic boom crawler crane has been added to the Tadano Mantis GTC-Series.
Tadano Mantis Corporation has introduced the newest addition to the GTC-Series of cranes with a 35 US ton capacity telescopic boom crawler crane. This new introduction brings the features and benefits of the GTC-Series to the smaller size class cranes offered by Tadano Mantis.
The 35 US ton capacity at 10 feet radius base rating of the crane is significantly higher than other units in the similar size class. As with all Tadano Mantis cranes, the 35 ton rating is a real, useable capacity with a “level” ground load chart that allows for operation on slopes of up to 1.5° so that the crane can be used to its full capabilities without the requirement of ground preparations to give a perfectly level lifting base. The load charts offer full chart pick-and-carry capacity through 360°.
The 3-section full power boom allows continuous telescoping with load to the maximum extended length of 89 feet, 3 inches. The boom is purpose designed for the GTC series crane and manufactured by Tadano Japan to give high lifting capacities as well as be suited for heavy duty work such as foundation, pick-and-carry, and work on slopes up to 4°. The long main boom is complimented with a 23’ 6” – 42’ 0” extendible jib that offsets at 5°, 25°, or 45° for a maximum tip height of 135 feet, 9 inches. Load charts for jib operation allow for lifting on slopes up to 2.5°.
Only Tadano Mantis offers the capability for infinite symmetrical or asymmetrical track positions on telescopic boom crawler cranes. The powerful hydraulic track extension system on the undercarriage can adjust the operating width of the crane from 10’ 9” – 15’ 9” overall width (with 29.5 inch wide track shoes) to provide the optimal lifting base based on site conditions. Tadano Mantis telescopic boom crawler cranes do not require pinning of the track frames in fixed width positions, so it is ideal for the crane user to be able to position the track width optimally for their lift work and to have the proper load charts automatically selected by the AML-C system. OPTI-WIDTH™ load charts for asymmetrically positioned tracks have significant lifting capacity enhancements when compared to those for symmetrical track positions. OPTI- WIDTH™ incorporates zoned load charts, rotational position sensing, and function soft stops to ensure that the crane operator cannot swing with a load into a zone where the crane will be out of capacity. The crane utilizes the full capabilities of the Tadano AML-C Rated Capacity Indicator and has operating load charts for 1.5°, 2.5° and 4° slope with automatic out of level load chart switching based on the cranes position on the jobsite. It is also possible for the operator to set work zone limits for swing angle, height, and radius, and the crane has function soft stops as operation approaches these pre-set operating limits.
The standard configuration of the crane has compact dimensions of 10 feet 9 inches wide by 43-foot, 1 inch length, by 8-foot 2 inch height (with 29.5 inch wide track shoes). Optional track shoes are available and can reduce the minimum operating and transport width to 8’ 6” and the overall height can easily be reduced to under 8-feet to allow this low profile crane to access sites that other cranes just can’t because of their height. Transport weight of the crane with the standard equipment package is 71,300 pounds and the unladen ground pressure is 7.6 psi.
The crane is powered by a Cummins Tier 4f QSB4.5 diesel engine rated 173 hp at 2,200 rpm. Engine throttle control is by auto-idle control, adaptive throttle control, or by foot pedal control. The load sensing, power controlled hydraulic system optimizes the hydraulic output to the diesel engine power output for highly efficient operation and control. The swing system is controlled by a separate closed loop hydrostatic transmission for superior swing performance - in either free swing, or hydrostatic controlled swing - and the maximum swing speed is 2.2 rpm. The travel system features 2-speed track drives with maximum speeds of 2.1 mph and a maximum unladen gradeability of 70 percent.
Telematics monitors machine work history, position data and maintenance data. This information can be accessed free of charge through the Tadano Hello-Net internet portal.
Boom mounted auger system can be mounted to the boom base section or to the second stage of the boom for variable radius drilling up to 54 feet at any position through the 360 degree rotation of the crane. The auger system can utilize auger drives with a maximum digging torque of up to 14,500 pounds-feet.
