Readers have been voting on the 2010 lifting job of the year. Now IC can reveal the winners and the two runners up.

It was not an easy choice for readers this time around, thanks to the spectacular range of jobs included in the 10 entries chosen by the IC editorial team. The votes were split almost evenly across the board, particularly among those entries vying for second and third place.

One entry, however, slowly edged ahead during the competition and stayed there. Mammoet took the top spot. The company used its sheerleg barge-mounted crane, among other crane equipment, to install a three section bridge in the Netherlands.

Second and third places only became apparent in the closing stages after changing hands with other entries over the last few weeks of the competition. In the end Eurogruas took second position with its range of lifts at a refinery extension in Spain. They included the country's heaviest recorded lift.

VSL Switzerland came in third with a unique job atop the world's highest building, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. It used a strand jack system to position the pinnacle at the top of the skyscraper.

IC extends its congratulations to the winners and a thank you to all those of you who took the time to vote, your efforts are appreciated. The competition would not be possible if it were not for the breathtaking jobs taking place across the world and the people who share them with us by sending the pictures and information to the magazine.

If your company completes a job over the next eight to 10 months that you think should be entered into next year's TopLift competition, and/or would make an interesting site report in International Cranes and Specialized Transport magazine, please send the details to the editor [email protected] or by post to: KHL group, Southfields, Southview Road, Wadhurst, East Sussex, TN5 6TP, United Kingdom.
