Zoomlion tower cranes build Istanbul landmark
17 May 2021
Two L760-50 luffing jib tower cranes made by Chinese manufacturer Zoomlion are being used on the construction of the high-profile Istanbul International Financial Center building, Istanbul, Turkey.
The two cranes were shipped straight to the job site from Zoomlion’s factory in Changde, China, in October 2020.
Zoomlion also made some modifications to the L760-50. It now has a reach a maximum height of 51 metres, a reach of 60 metres, and a maximum load capacity of 50 tonnes (or 11 tonnes with the load on the end of the jib).
Once the L760-50s arrived on site, they were used for hoisting steel and prefabricated concrete parts.
The manufacturer claimed they are well suited to this task with the crane’s lifting, frequency conversion and slewing mechanisms managed by ABB drive and control systems.
These features ensure the impact caused by starting, stopping and braking is minimal and that the crane is responsive. The L760-50 is also equipped with an automatic positioning camera, an electric wiper, and an automatic lubrication control.
Also provided by Zoomlion were three service engineers to aid its client with installation. “We were unable to install the product outriggers by our drawing specifications due to the local situation,” explained the Zoomlion engineer in charge of the project, “so, we re-formulated the technical plan that meets R&D specifications and local conditions, and successfully completed the outrigger pre-embedding.
“Also, we were unable to keep all the parts of L760-50s on site due to limited storage space so we replanned the installation sequence and hoisting plan accordingly and the installation was completed fairly quickly.”
