International engineering and maintenance specialist Sparrows Group has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract for crane and lifting services with INEOS on the Forties Pipeline System (FPS).

Sparrows will supply equipment operations, maintenance, engineering, and inspection services on the INEOS Unity oil and gas platform in the North Sea between the UK and Norway.

Sparrows started work with INEOS FPS in 2017. The latest contract includes mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and structural maintenance of cranes and other lifting equipment. The work will be done by Sparrows UK from its headquarters in Aberdeen, Scotland.

It will also do lifting equipment re-certification, repair and overhaul. Support from Sparrows’ specialist engineering team will also include provision of lifting plans, change management and other lifting services.

Commenting on the contract win Matt Corbin, Sparrows regional director in Europe, said, “Our commitment to providing safe and efficient operations, as well as our track record of more than 45 years in the North Sea and our experience working with INEOS FPS to date, is reflected in this announcement.”
