The powered access provider, which offers rental, sales and IPAF training from five depots across the country, now has a rental fleet that includes 1,725 platforms with either hybrid or electric engines.

The company’s rental fleet currently includes low-level push around platforms, battery powered slab scissor lifts, electric rough terrain scissor lifts, mast booms and hybrid boom lifts by manufacturers such as Power Tower, Skyjack, Haulotte and Niftylift.

Richard Miller, Managing Director, Star Platforms, said, “We regularly review our carbon footprint, and this includes our hire fleet.

“We are seeing more and more demand from our customer base for electric or hybrid platforms and are pleased the industry is moving to use more energy efficient machinery.”

The company said it had invested - and would continue to invest - in low-carbon equipment in order to meet its customers’ needs and to keep to its business goals.

Miller said, “Our ISO 14001 certification demonstrates that we have an effective environmental management system (EMS) in place and as we continue to grow and add to our fleet, we are conscious of maintaining our environmentally friendly goals.”
