EXG moves heavy exchangers to India

Logistics company Express Global Logistics (EXG), members of the Worldwide Project Consortium (WWPC) in India, transported four heavy heat exchangers from India to Egypt.

EXG’s cargo collectively weighed 300 tonnes and had a total volume of 1,426 cubic metres.

Two units were 40.7 x 3.5 x 3.75 metres each and the other two each measured 12.5 x 4.15 x 3.45 metres.

The complexity of handling such massive cargo requires meticulous planning and execution, EXG said.

EXG was tasked with port handling and co-ordinated with the relevant authorities for documents and permits.

Key challenge

One of the challenges faced in this project was finding a suitable heavy lift vessel to transport the four heat exchangers.

The company said the journey from India’s east coast to Egypt involved careful co-ordination and efficient utilisation of resources.

EXG chose a heavy lift break bulk vessel as the best mode of transport.

“Throughout the entire process, EXG prioritised safety and precision. Handling critical cargo responsibly is not just a commitment but a responsibility,” said a spokesperson for the company.

“The loading procedure was executed with utmost care and precision, ensuring the safety of the cargo and those involved in the operation.”
