Snorkel has begun the full production of two new electric Speed Level lifts.

The SL26RTE and SL30RTE feature lithium-ion battery packs and an integrated electric powertrain developed with battery technology company Hyperdrive Innovation.

Suitable for indoor and outdoor applications, the Snorkel SL26RTE has a maximum platform height of 8.0m (25ft 6in) and a lift capacity of 680kg (1,500lbs).

It also features a 1.72m x 4.6m (5ft 8in x 15ft) platform with the 0.91m (3ft) roll-out deck extension deployed and is available with non-marking tires.

With a maximum height of 9.0m (29ft 4in), the larger SL30RTE model has a fixed platform measuring 1.72m x 4.23m (5ft 8in x 13ft 11in) and can lift up to 590kg (1,300 lbs). It is also drivable at full height.

According to Snorkel, the maintenance-free lithium-ion battery packs reduce running costs by up to 95% when compared with a diesel engine machine. The company said its electric models also produce less noise, with its new SL26RTE 60% quieter than the existing Snorkel SL26SL.

The new machines, which were previewed at Bauma in Germany earlier this year, are being branded as zero-emission versions of the company’s original diesel-powered Snorkel SL26SL and SL30SL.

Gill said, “Following very positive feedback to our preview at Bauma, the design has undergone thorough testing, both in concept and in field evaluations, and we are confident that these models will exceed our customers’ expectations.”

The new electric models are being manufactured at Snorkel’s assembly facility in the UK.
