Bott Group adds 30th Grove crane

Germany-based Bott Group has marked a major fleet milestone with the addition of its 30th Grove mobile crane, a new 250 tonne capacity GMK5250XL-1 all terrain. It was handed over at the manufacturer’s Wilhelmshaven plant on Germany’s north coast and is now based at Bott’s headquarters in Bad Kreuznach.

The investment was made possible by the resale of an older crane through KranAgentur Werner, enabling Bott to quickly reinvest in new lifting technology without disruption to operations, the company said.

The GMK5250XL-1 arrives fully equipped for complex lifts. It has a hydraulic bi-fold swing-away jib for flexibility on site, preparation for an auxiliary hoist, the proven VIAB turbo retarder clutch for smooth, wear-free starts, and advanced visibility tools, including the BirdView 270 degree camera system and a boom head camera.

Founded in 1972 as a small automotive workshop, Bott Group entered the towing and recovery business three years later before expanding into heavy transport in 1999. Its first crane arrived in 2001, setting the stage for steady growth into a full-service heavy-lift and transport provider. Today, the company employs around 120 people across three locations in Germany and handles projects up to the 450 tonne class.
