Grove AT aids electronics plant construction

JE IL in Korea has taken delivery of a Grove GMK5250XL-1 all terrain crane to aid in the construction of a new semiconductor plant in South Korea. This is a high profile project for the country due to the influence of the electronics industry.
The company said it chose the GMK5250XL-1 for its compact five-axle design, 150 tonne capacity, and 78.5 metre boom. Its agility and compatibility with secondary auxiliary hoists are expected to greatly enhance operational efficiency, the company added.
The crane will primarily operate with the main boom and full counterweight configurations, with limited use of the swing-away jib.
“The specifications of the equipment are undoubtedly important, and the primary reason JE IL chose the Grove GMK5250XL-1 was for the exceptional quality of service provided by Manitowoc,” said Roy Lim, sales manager for Manitowoc, Korea.
The crane was imported through Pyeongtaek Port, conveniently located near JE IL’s operations. This proximity allowed the company to swiftly transport the crane to the semiconductor factory and commission it on-site.
Before deployment, Manitowoc conducted a three-day training session to prepare the team for operation.
