Crane and construction equipment electronics specialist Ascorel has acquired fellow French company NOV Services.

NOV Services manufactures cameras used on cranes for viewing the load, monitoring winch spooling, and so on.

The acquisition was completed and took effect at the beginning of July. Terms of the deal were undisclosed. NOV Services will be subsumed into Ascorel with the founder Charlie Guernier, being retained.

Innovation boost

The acquisition will help Ascorel provide more “comprehensive, integrated and innovative solutions,” the company said. Pooling the technical expertise of the two companies will bring more innovation, Ascorel expected.

The NOVCam camera system will be integrated with Ascorel crane control, monitoring and collision avoidance systems. These are primarily fitted to tower cranes but are also used on other crane types.

Commenting on the deal Vincent Thevenet, Ascorel CEO, said, “This acquisition reflects our commitment to serving our customers even better, by combining innovation and expertise.”
