MGX Equipment Services opens first South American offices

MGX Equipment Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Manitowoc Company, opened its first South American facilities in Antofagasta, Chile, and Lima, Peru, extending the company’s repair, maintenance and parts support capabilities into the region. 

MGX provides parts, repair and maintenance support for Manitowoc, Grove, National Crane, Potain, and other lifting equipment brands across the US. It focuses on used equipment sales, OEM parts and repair and remanufacturing services.

The South American offices mark the company’s first step in a stated international expansion strategy. Antofagasta was selected for its concentration of mining operations and associated heavy equipment demand, while the Lima office will support customers nationwide in Peru with field service operations focused on major repairs, preventative maintenance, inspections, and technical training. The new Lima office will serve as a central hub for MGX’s field service operations, with a strong focus on delivering on-site technical support. 

The Chile facility also offers preventive maintenance, corrective repairs, and selected overhauls for cranes, mobile elevating work platforms, and telehandlers across all brands, supported by an on-site parts warehouse connected to a global supplier network, and includes training space and a simulator for Grove rough-terrain cranes and Manitowoc crawler cranes, providing hands-on instruction for operators and technicians, who are trained to support both workshop-based and on-site repairs including major overhauls.
