Palfinger delivered a PK 23500 truck with a loader crane to Djibouti, Africa for the support, maintenance and development of essential WASH facilities (Water Sanitation and Hygiene).
Because Djibouti is a sub-tropical country with a desert climate, the multifaceted truck is essential for getting drinking water in this region. The available water resources are at very great depths and are difficult to mobilize and exploit. The average borehole depth is 200 meters, but can be as deep as 500 meters in some areas.
The PK 23500 features a high lifting capacity and is used to transport pumping equipment such as generators, pumps and drain pipes. Construction sites are often isolated and difficult to reach over the stony and especially sandy tracks. The Palfinger Mounting Competence Center (MCC) enables the machine to endure with the particularly rough conditions.
It helps strengthen the technical and logistical capacities on site in order to improve the supply of drinking water to the vulnerable population who has been severely affected for two decades by chronic drought due to climate change, Palfinger said.
