Profile of ITC keynote speaker Christophe Simoncelli

Christophe Simoncelli will use his keynote speaker position at the upcoming ITC conference to address how safety and environmental factors are influencing crane designs, and what opportunities new technologies could bring to the tower crane sector.

With more than 23 years working experience in the tower crane sector, he is well qualified to raise these issues. 

Now Manitowoc’s senior vice president operations tower cranes Europe, he joined Potain in 1998, three years before it became part of Manitowoc Group.

He has held several positions within Manitowoc, gradually increasing his scope of responsibilities. He gained international experience through his exposure to many European, Asian and Middle East markets as well as two periods working in the Netherlands and in Singapore.

Starting at Potain
Currently based in Lyon, France, Simoncelli started as a sales representative for Potain tower cranes and held until 2010 several manager and director positions for sales and aftersales for Potain, Grove and Manitowoc cranes in areas covering Scandinavia, Benelux, Ireland, CIS and France.

In 2011, he was appointed vice-president for sales in Western Europe and French-speaking Africa for all Manitowoc crane brands. Five years later he took the role of vice president sales Asia Pacific and Middle East for Potain Tower Cranes.

Returning to Europe
He returned to Europe in 2018 to take the new position of Vice-President GME (top slewing tower cranes) which included operations and product development. A year later, his role was extended to GMA (self-erecting tower cranes) to cover the whole Potain product range in Europe.

In September 2020, sales, aftermarket and marketing activities were added to his scope of responsibilities, making him responsible for all Potain Tower Cranes activities in Europe.

He has degrees from the EDHEC Business School (Bachelor in Business and Management) and from Sheffield Hallam University (Master of Sciences in international business).
