The China Nuclear Engineering & Construction Corporation (CNEC) has signed an order for the world’s largest crawler from Terex Demag, according to the People’s Daily Online.

Launched in October 2007, the CC 8800-1 Twin crane has a 3,200 tonne lifting capacity and a maximum load moment rating of 44,000 tonne-metres. Main boom is up to 117 m long and can be combined with a luffing fly jib of up to 117 m, giving a maximum hook height of more than 235 m.

The People’s Daily reports that the deal is worth more than CNY200 million (US$28.6 million) and the crane will initially be used to help complete the construction of the Haiyang nuclear power plant in Haiyang county, Shandong Province.
