Havator acquires Kallioinen Cranes

Crane rental company Kallioinen Cranes Oy has been acquired by fellow Finnish crane and transport specialist Havator.

The deal, completed on 18 June for an undisclosed sum, includes all the business operations and equipment. The 17-crane mobile fleet is a mix of Liebherr and Tadano all terrains on two, three, four and five axle carriers. There’s also four behind-the-cab loader cranes on Volvo tractors for industrial installation work.

All Kallioinen employees will continue in their same roles under Havator and the brand will also be retained. Everything from the office and phone numbers to the cranes and drivers will stay the same, said Sami Jalo, Havator CEO.

Coming together

“We warmly welcome the skilled personnel of Kallioinen Cranes. This acquisition strengthens our capabilities and enables us to offer even more comprehensive services to our customers,” Jalo continued.

“For customers and partners, the acquisition will not affect contact persons or service continuity. Our goal is a smooth transition and continued development together,” Jalo concluded.

Kallioinen Cranes has been going for almost 50 years and said it makes 27,000 lifts a year. It also offers heavy transport services.

For just over a year Havator Group Oy itself has been owned by Danish-Norwegian joint-venture crane company BMS Stangeland, owned by BMS Group A/S and Stangeland Gruppen A/S.

At the time of that takeover in April 2024 the Havator CEO at the time Hannu Leinonen, said, “A Nordic consolidation is something our industry has been expecting. The new set-up will allow Havator to leverage an even stronger and broader service offering to its clients and also offer more uniform services to clients operating on a Nordic scale. Joining a pan-Nordic company will also offer our personnel an even more international outlook towards the future, combined with growing opportunities to develop competencies and careers. I am also pleased that our new owner is a true industrial player.”
