ConfalQ met in Madrid on 24 October.

Spain’s rental industry is to establish a voluntary accreditation scheme for rental companies with the aim of creating consistent, industry-wide standards.

At its annual meeting in Madrid on 24 October, ConfalQ, the rental confederation in Spain, agreed to introduce a certification scheme with the aim of establishing consistent work practices and quality standards throughout the industry.

The initiative has the support of Spain’s three main rental associations – ANAPAT for aerial platforms, ASEAMAC for general rental, and FANAGRUMAC for cranes. All three held their annual meetings at the Madrid meeting before holding a joint session at which the scheme was approved.

ConfalQ said the move reflected a collective willingness within the industry to pursue self-regulation, something that is encouraged within the European Union.

The details of the protocols to be included in the accreditation scheme will be announced in the coming weeks on ConfalQ’s website (www.confalq.org).

ConfalQ, which is recognised by Spain’s Ministry of Labour as the representative body for the equipment rental industry, said the accreditation scheme would be voluntary and would comply with Spain’s competition regulations.
