FMCSA will release study of CSA soon

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) is nearing completion of its analysis of how to account for fault in the crash data it uses to assess carrier safety performance through the agency’s Compliance, Safety, Accountability (CSA) program, and the study has been peer-reviewed.

The news came in remarks from Joe DeLorenzo, Director of FMCSA’s Office of Enforcement and Compliance, at an April 29 meeting of the CSA Subcommittee of the Motor Carrier Safety Advisory Committee in Arlington, Va.

Plans call for release of that report, along with a Federal Register notice, sometime in June. SC&RA is among many organizations that have questioned components of the CSA programs, and the association said it will monitor related developments on behalf of its members.
