It will be here before you know it. In just two months the gates to Bauma 2025 will open to the world.
You can be sure there will be many surprises in store for buyers of cranes, rigging gear, trailers and related products and services.
Bauma is the “best platform to connect with our customers from around the world,” said Ion Warner, Manitowoc spokesperson. “It is an incredible event that unites the entire industry every three years to showcase the products and services that are propelling us forward.”
The element of surprise is an important factor in new product development and roll out. Grand reveals and “ready to talk” dates are carefully considered and often pushed back. Crane manufacturers have been especially tight-lipped about their product introductions this year.
At the time of writing most manufacturers were still holding out on the details of what would be brand new at the world’s biggest trade show. What we did get is shared here alongside a few hints about what to expect. More details will be presented in next month’s issue.
Liebherr

As a leading exhibitor at Bauma Liebherr is sure to have some spectacular news at its main stand in the outside area, number 809-812. Its tagline for this show is Hands on the future. Digitalisation and responsibility are the key themes within that.
More than 70 exhibits will adorn the enormous 14,000 square metre (more than two football pitches) Liebherr stand. Many of them will be cranes from the Ehingen, Biberach and Nenzing divisions manufacturing wheeled and crawler mobile and construction tower cranes.
New models will be shown for the first time from the wheeled and crawler mobile crane ranges. As with Liebherr’s other product ranges, expect to see news of low emission drive systems.
Battery drive technology will be shown on the 300 tonne capacity LR 1300.2 SX lattice boom crawler crane. It will be shown for the first time as a battery-electric version with zero emissions. It has a 438 kW electric motor and is powered by a 392 kW-h battery. Up to 13 hours of operation on a single charge can be achieved, Liebherr said, depending on the application.
Talking of power there will be a new version of Liebherr’s Liduro Power Port (LPO) mobile energy storage system. Another stationary energy storage system, LPO 600, will be shown as a prototype. As a mobile charging station LPO 600 has a capacity of 564 kW-h, enough for large machines or fleets, Liebherr said. Hydrogen technology will also feature, primarily to power larger machines that are difficult to power electrically.
On the control technology theme, seven of the mobile cranes shown will have new driver-assistance functions, including blind spot information system (BSIS) and the moving off information system (MOIS). The 120 tonnne capacity LTM 1120-4.2 wheeled mobile telescopic crane with the new LICCON3 control system will be set up, as standard, for telematics and fleet management. Combined with Liebherr Connect it will be able to show all relevant data via the MyLiebherr customer portal.
In the tower crane segment visitors will be able to see the recently revamped K series fast-erecting cranes. Performance is improved, controls are updated and there is a new operating system. There are four models with new intelligent operator assistance systems. Functions include swing-free lifting without pulling diagonally on the load. Semi-automated lifts can be set up for repetitive load cycles.

Manitowoc Cranes
Wheeled, crawler and tower crane manufacturer Manitowoc will be exhibiting in the same place, stands FS1201, FS1202, FS1202/2, as it has for the last three shows. “Attendees can look forward to seeing a dozen mobile and tower cranes from our various product lines,” said Ion Warner, Manitowoc spokesperson. “In addition, there will be exciting advancements in our Grove Connect and Potain Connect telematics systems, new training opportunities for customers, EnCore remanufacturing services and a wide range of aftermarket parts and service offerings designed to help maximise productivity and return on invested capital for our customers.”
Tadano
Also with the same location as the last Bauma in 2022, FS 1205, Tadano said it will show a broader and more global product offering. It will include products from the recently expanded global portfolio.
“We have grown significantly with key acquisitions over the past couple of years, giving us the ability to enhance the Tadano customer experience. At this year’s Bauma, we are excited to present several new products, highlight improvements in technology and innovation that reflect our commitment to the lifting industry and provide visitors with insight into our recent acquisitions,” said Dean Barley, Tadano Americas CEO.
Tadano’s latest acquisition Manitex International, will still have its own booth, FS 1203/1 close by, where its display will include PM loader cranes, and Valla industrial pick and carry cranes.
As can be seen on the CCTV feeds from the Bauma showground, among the new cranes on show will be a big new lattice boom crawler crane. Also, expect further advances related to sustainability.
